A pole-zero model for cepstrally smoothed speech spectra
نویسنده
چکیده
I In this paper a new method for representation of cepstrally smoothed speech spectra by a pole—zero model is presented. In this method the cepatrally smoothed log spectrum is split into two parts, one corresponding to the response of the numerator polynomial of the model transfer function arid the other part to the response of the denominator polynomial of the model transfer function. The decomposition in achieved by using the properties of the derivative of phase spectra of minimum phase signals. The inverse of each of these responses is approximated by a small number of autoregressive coefficients. The method is illustrated with several examples of speech spectra. The residual from the inverse pole—zero model system can be used to obtain information about the excitation signal. The technique proposed in this paper can be used to represent any arbitrary smoothed log spectrum by a pole—zero model of appropriate order.

Speech Analysis by Pole-zero Decomposition of Short-time Spectra
Abstrtct. A new method for representation of speech spectra based on a pole-zero decomposition technique is proposed in this paper. In this method the parameters of a pole-zero model for the smoothed short-time spectrum of speech are determined by adopting a cepstral matching criterion. The cepstral coefficients of the impulse response of the model are equal to the cepstral coefficients of the ...
متن کاملPeter Balazs Speaker Verification using Pole / Zero Estimates of Nasals
The acoustics of nasals are an important source of speakerdiscriminating features. Nasal spectra contain poles and zeros dependent upon nasal cavities which are complex static structures which vary from person to person. Nasal spectra may therefore have low withinspeaker and high between-speaker variability. This study applies a recent pole-zero model estimation technique based on a logarithmic...

A common problem in speaker identification systems is that a mismatch in the training and testing conditions sacrifices much performance. We attempt to alleviate this problem by proposing new features that show less variation when speech is corrupted by convolutional noise (channel) and/or additive noise. The conventional feature used is the linear predictive (LP) cepstrum that is derived from ...

متن کاملThe Role of Lower Airway Resonances in Defining Vowel Feature Contrasts by Steven
Since the voicing source is located between the lower and upper airways and has a high impedance, the resonances of the lower airway appear as pole-zero pairs in vowel spectra. These pole-zero pairs interact non-linearly with the vocal tract formants, producing narrow frequency bands within which formant structure is unstable. The broader frequency bands between lower airway resonances are thus...
